One possible solution to solve you heating issue… Put servo motors on your vents upstairs and connect them to an Arduino. When the passive solar heating gets the upstairs to 68 degreesin in the day have the Arduino close all the servo vents upstairs. All of the heat will then go downstairs. Then in the evening have the Arduino open the servo vents again.
